Michael Jordan, other UNC legends to attend championship game tonight

Former North Carolina star Michael Jordan will be one of many Tar Heels legends in attendance for tonight’s championship game at Houston’s NRG Stadium, according to a pair of tweets from Harold Gutmann of The Durham Herald-Sun.

Per Gutmann, former Tar Heel and Golden State Warriors wing Harrison Barnes will also be in attendance along with Vince Carter, Justin Watts, Kendall Marshall, John Henson, Brandan Wright and Reggie Bullock.

No NBA games are scheduled for Monday, making it easier for guys to get to Houston and back

Jordan, who currently owns the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets, does not appear in public often, so this is a big deal. The Hall of Famer starred for the Tar Heels for three years, winning a national championship in 1982 thanks to making the game-winning jump shot against Georgetown. Jordan would go on to star in the NBA for the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards, winning a total of six NBA championships to go with five MVP trophies and 10 scoring titles.

Needless to say, as No. 1 North Carolina faces No. 2 Villanova tonight, having someoen like Michael Jordan in the crowd should provide plenty of fireworks. Tip-off is slated for 9:19 p.m. ET on TBS, so be sure to tune in!
