Richie Petitbon undergoes ACL surgery

Alabama offensive lineman Richie Petitbon has tore his ACL during the Crimson Tide’s scrimmage last weekend. Per Matt Zeintz of AL.com, the redshirt freshman has already undergone surgery.

Alabama has confirmed the surgery, via a statement from Nick Saban.

“He has undergone successful surgery with Dr. Lyle Cain in Birmingham, and we anticipate a full recovery,” Saban said in the statement.

A former four-star recruit out of Washington D.C.’s Gonzaga College High School, Petitbon was competing for one of the two open starting guard’s jobs on Alabama’s offensive line. The Crimson Tide are coming off of a national championship season that will see plenty of top players from both sides of the field be selected in the NFL Draft later this month, so it is officially time for another Nick Saban recruiting class to shine.

No word has been given on Petitbon’s status for the 2016 season, but stay tuned to Campus Sports for further updates!
