Georgia Bulldogs star running back Nick Chubb is looking strong in practice as he works his way back from a horrific knee injury suffered last season, according to what teammate Sony Michel told Seth Emerson of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“He was moving pretty fast, faster than people might think. And he was like, ‘Man I can’t slow down,’” Michel said yesterday. “That’s the type of person he is.”
Chubb certainly appears to be well ahead of schedule in his rehab, especially considering how he tore his PCL and other ligaments on his first carry of the game against Tennessee last season. The injury was described as career threatening and made hearts of Georgia fans nationwide stop.
But it appears that Chubb is determined to get back on the field and is looking great in his recovery, even if new Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart won’t yet commit to him being ready for the team’s season opener against the North Carolina Tar Heels at the Georgia Dome on September 3. Despite that, Chubb appears to be doing OK, according to Michel.
“He knows it’s a process, so he’s being patient with it,” Michel said. “He’s ready to be back on the field, but at the same time he knows the process, he’s going to work hard every day, he knows every day is another chance to get that leg ready to get him back on the field.”
