Penn State recruit disagrees with satellite camp ban

The NCAA banned satellite camps today, and one recruit in particular isn’t happy about it.

That recruit is Penn State commit Alex Barbir, a kicker out of Georgia who tweeted that he is headed to the Nittany Lions because of attending a satellite camp.

The ban likely came due to the SEC criticizing the recruiting tactic as an infringement on its territory, especially after Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh held some across the nation last summer as well as a week of spring practice at Florida’s IMG Academy earlier this year, but that doesn’t make it right. Satellite camps are a great way of introducing recruits to programs in other areas of the country they may not be able to visit easily.

In Barbir’s case, Penn State held a camp at Georgia Southern, and the rest is history.
