Running back LeGarrette Blount has re-signed with the New England Patriots, according to Jeff Howe of The Boston Herald. It is a one-year contract, though financial terms were not disclosed.
As a result, New England’s offense will have a powerful and bruising running back for short-yardage situations once again. Blount ran for 703 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games before going down with a hip injury in December and has since recovered fully.
Teamed up with pass-catching running back Dion Lewis (who missed most of last season with an ACL injury), not to mention extra depth from James White and Brandon Bolden, Blount can help keep New England’s offense stay unpredictable and versatile.
But a lot also relies on Blount staying out of trouble off the field. He drew a marijuana-related suspension last season, and has been known to butt heads with coaches. Fortunately, none of that occurred in New England, so look forward to Blount continuing to succeed with the Patriots!
