Oklahoma Sooners star shooting guard Buddy Hield had a great senior season in 2015-16, ranking second in the nation with 25 points per game as he led Oklahoma to the Final Four and won the Oscar Robertson Trophy along the way.
Sure enough, Oklahoma basketball took to Instagram and posted a picture of Hield’s trophy.
The Oscar Robertson Trophy itself is given out annually to the nation’s best men’s college basketball player by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), with past winners including Anthony Davis, Frank Kaminsky and Michael Jordan, among many other notable players. The trophy’s namesake was a great basketball player himself and is the only player in NBA history to have averaged a triple-double for a season.
And given how Hield was near-unstoppable as a scorer in last season, it only makes sense that the Sooners would want to celebrate his winning the trophy.
