Cris Cyborg challenges Ronda Rousey to 140-pound catchweight

Here we are again with another story that is all too familiar to mixed martial arts fans. Cris Cyborg, who is set to make her UFC debut at UFC 198 next month, has long been trying to get a fight with former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.

A big road block has always been Cyborg’s unwillingness to cut to 135-pounds and the fact that she was fighting in another promotion, but now she is hoping to get the big money fight as an official member of the UFC roster.

Rousey has previously said that Cyborg should make the cut if she wants a fight with the champ, but since Rousey lost her belt Cyborg is once again making the call out. This time, there are no excuses.

Of course, Rousey will probably receive a title shot when she returns to the Octagon later this year — likely in November at Madison Square Garden — so a superfight with Cyborg will have to wait even longer.

But maybe, just maybe, if the two can get wins under their belt we can be on the road to the fight that MMA fans have long been clamoring for.
