Michigan State offensive tackle Jack Conklin is so talented that he is good enough to be the No. 10 overall prospect in the 2016 NFL Draft class, according to NFL.com draft analyst Gil Brandt.
As part of his annual Hot 100, Brandt praised Conklin’s work ethic as a walk-on for the Spartans who also redshirted, and mentioned his ability to play both tackle positions as well on top of the fact that he “should be a starter for a long time.”
Brandt also mentioned that Conklin may best be suited to play guard and while that is another conversation entirely, there is no doubt just how much he has upped his draft stock since declaring following the 2015 season. The Kalamazoo product did nothing but improve each year playing under Spartans coach Mark Dantonio and was also an excellent leader, with his 6-foot-6, 325 pound frame being an added bonus on the field.
Just at what point Jack Conklin will be selected next week remains to be seen but given Brandt’s extensive experience as a former Dallas Cowboys executive, it wouldn’t be at all shocking to see him enter the Top 10, give or take a couple of picks.
