Leonard Fournette is one of the best running backs in the nation, but his head coach thinks there is one way the 2016 Heisman favorite could take his game to the next level.
According to The Advocate’s Ross Dellenger, LSU head coach Les Miles said Fournette needs to drop some weight.
“Leonard Fournette’s got to trim up,” Miles said. “For him to get the speed he’s capable of, I think he needs to be lighter.”
Judging by Fournette’s 2015 game film, he is doing just fine. So why would Miles make those comments? It’s possible the head coach is just trying to keep his star running back focused on the upcoming season. It’s also possible that Fournette let up just a bit in the offseason and he did not show up for spring practice in top shape.
Regardless of why Miles made those comments, it’s safe to safe Fournette will be a force to be reckoned with in the SEC once again in 2016.
If he can drop weight and get even faster, well, watch out.
