Dallas Cowboys to work out former Baylor basketball player

With the 2016 NFL Draft just over a week away, the Dallas Cowboys are looking deep into the pool of draft eligible players for a potential gem. If everything goes well for former Baylor basketball player Rico Gathers, he could garner some consideration.

According to Mike Triplett of ESPN, Gathers is set to work out for the team on Wednesday.

Gathers appeared for the Bears and was a standout member of the team that reached the 2016 NCAA Tournament.

At 6-foot-8, 275 pounds, there is hope that he can blend his size and athleticism to become the next impressive NFL talent to make the transition from college basketball to pro football.

Gathers is currently expected to be drafted late on Day 3 of the 2016 NFL Draft.

If he impresses Jerry Jones and company this week, he could be a target to watch for the Cowboys next Saturday.
