NFL Draft 2016: Winners and Losers from Day 1

The first day and first round of the NFL Draft is in the books, and it was an absolute barnburner of an evening. Quarterbacks Jared Goff and Carson Wentz were the first two selections to the Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles, and the dominos continues to fall in the most unpredictable pattern possible to the point where picking winners and losers proved to be a hefty task.

In one case, social media controversy caused a top prospect’s stock to fall tremendously, but not too much. In another case, a player who was a near-lock to be a first-round pick wasn’t selected at all.

On the whole, this NFL Draft is far from over and the surprises are just going to keep on a-coming. For now, let’s recap the first round and pick the biggest winners and losers from Day 1 and the first round.
