On Saturday night, Cris Cyborg gave mixed martial arts fans at Arena da Baixada in her hometown of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil a reason to cheer at UFC 198 with a dominating win over Leslie Smith in her UFC debut.
After her impressive TKO victory, many expected the Invicta FC featherweight champion to call out her longtime rival Ronda Rousey, however, Cyborg decided against doing that.
Cyborg simply used her post-fight interview to say she plans on defending her Invicta FC title, while accepting catchweight bouts in the UFC. Cyborg’s reasoning for not calling out Rousey was simple, it was the Brazilian’s moment and she did not want to take away from it.
However, after the dust settled, Cyborg took to social media to deliver a shot at the former UFC champ.
Cyborg posted a photoshopped image of Rousey running away from the Invicta title holder. The caption read, “You running all the way to New York?” Cyborg accompanied the image by channeling her inner Diaz brother with the hashtag, “#dontbescaredhomie.”
That’s some grade-A trolling.
As for when we will see Cyborg returning to the Octagon, only time will tell. Judging by Cyborg’s most recent comments, her next appearance may come inside of the Invicta cage in the form of a title defense.
