Travonte Valentine’s career with the LSU Tigers came to an abrupt end after multiple bouts with academic issues. It looks like one of the obstacles on his journey back to Baton Rouge has been cleared.
According to Ross Dellenger of The Advocate, the SEC has approved Valentine’s return to LSU for the 2016 season. It now certainly seems that Valentine could be hitting the field for the Tigers this fall.
In Dellenger’s report, he said: “Valentine still needs to complete 13 hours of course work over the summer to qualify, another source confirmed. The 6-foot-3, 345-pounder has spent the last year at two junior colleges – Arizona Western and, currently, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.”
Travonte Valentine was a four-star member of the Tigers’ 2014 recruiting class, but due to academic issues, he was never permitted to play. He was suspended last April due to academics and multiple failed drug tests before heading to Arizona Western.
It may take a little adjusting to get back up to SEC speed, but it certainly seems like Valentine could be making a return to the Tigers sooner rather than later.
