While the Baylor football program deals with the fallout from allegations of sexual assaults by former football players which led to head coach Art Briles being fired, everyone is wondering what is next.
It may be quite some time until we learn what punishment Baylor will face from the NCAA, but it does appear as though we know who will be replacing Briles in the immediate future.
Per a report from ESPN.com, Baylor defensive coordinator Phil Bennett was offered the interim head coaching job and he plans to accept the offer.
Bennett was previously head coach at SMU for six seasons, racking up a 18-51 record. His last five years have been spent leading the Baylor Bears defense.
Baylor opens the 2016 season on Saturday, Sept. 3 against Northwestern State.
