LSU Tigers head coach Les Miles presented one of the most interesting opinions regarding satellite camps that we’ve heard in quite some time. Miles spoke to the media at the SEC Spring Meeting and delivered the rather interesting quote.
“If I could we’d hoist small caliber weapons. To be honest I don’t think that’s possible,” Miles remarked, via The Advocate.
Ouch.
Of course, Miles isn’t actually threatening anyone with his remarks, they were likely just made in jest. After all, we’ve seen the intense back-and-forth between Alabama head coach Nick Saban and Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh, so Miles was just staying out of that frenzy.
The coach later expanded on his comments, saying there isn’t as much appeal for satellite camps for SEC coaches because of the recruiting area their programs already occupy.
“I think in this league there’s more concern with your team, being on campus, having a team meeting, describing academics and life skills. I think there’s a very consistent theme in this conference that we have a very lucrative recruiting area,” Miles said.
“We don’t have to traipse all across the country to get quality players. We just want to serve them best”
I think it’s safe to say that the satellite debate won’t be ending anytime soon.
