Report: WWE wants Ronda Rousey to wrestle at WrestleMania 33

Could former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey enter the ring at WrestleMania 33?

Over the weekend, it was announced that WWE superstar Brock Lesnar would be returning to mixed martial arts to appear at the landmark UFC 200 show next month. That led to many wondering what the WWE would get in return for allowing one of their biggest stars to compete in combat sports.

While there has been plenty of speculation and even denial that Lesnar’s deal with the UFC was only because that is what he wanted, recent reports indicate the WWE is eyeing some of the UFC’s top stars.

According to Forbes, the WWE is interested in working with the UFC and has eyed former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey as a potential participant in WrestleMania 33, which takes place in Orlando, Fla. next April.

Rousey previously appeared at WrestleMania 31, but has not returned to the WWE since.

Rousey is a well-known WWE fan and even has her name thanks to her admiration for “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and their shared connection to “Judo” Gene LeBell.

If Rousey does indeed appear at WrestleMania, it would be a huge story and one of the most anticipated appearances in the WWE in recent memory.

There are also reports that the WWE is interested in having strawweight Paige VanZant, who most recently was a finalist on ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, appear at SummerSlam later this year.

Who knows, maybe this is just the beginning of the WWE and UFC sharing talent for major events.

Does this mean CM Punk could eventually return to the WWE?
