Women’s College World Series 2016: Oklahoma wins national title

The Oklahoma Sooners are your 2016 national champions, after upending the Auburn Tigers in the decisive Game 3 of the Women’s College World Series.

Oklahoma topped Auburn by a score of 2-1 in Oklahoma City.

It was Oklahoma’s third national championship. The previous national titles came in 2000 and 2013.

Despite an incredible, inspirational effort from Auburn in Game 2 to even the series and force a Game 3, Oklahoma was able to overcome the adversity to bring home the title with a hard-fought effort on Wednesday night.

Wednesday’s crowd was a record-setting audience which included Auburn football head coach Gus Malzahn and Oklahoma star quarterback Baker Mayfield.

Congratulations to the Oklahoma softball program.
