Alabama QB commit Mac Jones makes strides at Rivals 5-star challenge

Recently, Mac Jones shocked many by decommitting from the Kentucky Wildcats football program in favor of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Since then, Jones has made some tracks in his efforts to impress the team.

AL.com took time to catch up with the four-star quarterback after he attended the Rivals 5-star challenge, where he received plenty of exposure.

Jones was able to work with a number of star wide receivers he hopes to one day take the field with.

“Wide receiver-wise, Jerry Jeudy, Devonta Smith and Henry Ruggs were the big ones. I threw with them like every time I went up there. We really clicked every time on and off the field,” Jones said. “Smitty did really good at the Rivals camp. Jeudy, a south Florida kid, is really quick and I’d love to be throwing to him. Henry Ruggs is like Smith and really quick, too. Any of those guys would be good at Alabama and I’d like to have all of them.”

And it’s not unreasonable at all for Jones to expect to have all three wide recceivers on the Alabama roster with him. Per 247 Sports’ crystal ball predictions, the trio is set to commit to the program above all others.

Jones may only have been an Alabama commit for a week, but he’s definitely making the needed connections with some top-notch players.
