Stephen Curry fined $25,000 for throwing mouthpiece, hitting fan

During last night’s loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers which forced a decisive Game 7 in the NBA Finals, Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry had an on-court meltdown that ended with his ejection and launching of his mouthpiece into the stands.

On Friday, the league released a statement announcing punishment for the two-time league MVP.

Curry, along with head coach Steve Kerr, who openly criticized the officiating after the Warriors’ blowout loss, has been fined $25,000 for his actions.

“Curry has been fined $25,000 for throwing his mouthpiece into the spectator stands,” the statement read.

“The incident, which resulted in a technical foul and subsequent ejection for Curry, occurred with 4:22 remaining in the fourth quarter of the Warriors’ 115-101 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers during Game 6 of The Finals on June 16 at Quicken Loans Arena.

“Kerr has been fined $25,000 for public criticism of the officiating during his press conference following the same game.”

Now, that the unfortunate incident is behind us, it’s time to look ahead to Game 7 which will determine the 2016 NBA Champions.

The game will take place on Sunday night at the Oracle Arena in Oakland.
