Do the Knicks have a shot at landing Kevin Durant?

Oklahoma City superstar forward, Kevin Durant, is the top prize in this year’s NBA free agency and the New York Knicks now believe they are in the running to sign him.

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith recently reported that Durant will be deciding between staying with his Oklahoma City Thunder or joining the Golden State Warriors who knocked Durant’s squad out in the conference finals.

After landing former MVP Derrick Rose in a trade with Chicago yesterday, the Knicks are planning on going after another former MVP in Durant.

Knicks President Phil Jackson told Rose that they are targeting Durant according to league sources.

Adding Durant to a solid core of Rose, Carmelo Anthony, and Kristaps Porzingis would certainly make New York contenders out of the subordinate Eastern Conference. While Oklahoma City and Golden State are the front-runners to sign Kevin Durant, look for Phil Jackson and the Knicks to make Durant’s free agency a little more interesting.
