The Alabama Crimson Tide enter the 2016 college football season as defending national champions, but they will do so with a new man under center leading the offense with Jacob Coker gone for the NFL.
So who could be the replacement? If former Crimson Tide quarterback Walter Lewis would get his way, it seems like Alabama would give Blake Barnett the call.
Barnett, a former five-star recruit, has impressive size and was the No. 2 quarterback in his class.
And, according to Lewis, Barnett has been performing well enough that he has drawn comparisons to the legendary Joe Namath.
If Barnett gets a crack at the starting job, Crimson Tide fans would surely be happy with results to the national championship that Namath brought the school.
Of course, Barnett is in a heated competition as one of four players vying for the job. Will he ultimately earn the No. 1 spot on the Crimson Tide depth chart? Only time will tell.
