Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield praises Clemson defensive duo

Throughout the Oklahoma Sooners’ run to the College Football Playoff last season, Baker Mayfield and company faced a lot of stiff competition.

But as far as one of this year’s preseason Heisman favorites is concerned, the toughest players he faced all season belonged on the same team, the national runner-up Clemson Tigers.

Mayfield recently spoke about the competition he faced during the 2015 season and revealed defensive end Kevin Dodd and cornerback Mackensie Alexander were his toughest on-field opponents to date.

Both players went on to become second-round picks in the 2016 NFL Draft — Dodd to the Titans and Alexander to the Vikings.

So if Mayfield and the Sooners find themselves once again facing Clemson with a shot at the national championship on the line, the star quarterback may just find it to be a little easier than a season ago.
