The Georgia Bulldogs landed a big piece for their 2017 recruiting class on Tuesday when five-star defensive end Robert Beal committed to the team. The news was reported by ESPN’s Gerry Hamilton.
“I’m just a homegrown guy,” the Norcross, Georgia native Beal said. “I love my home, I love my state and I want to help bring a national championship back to Georgia.”
His commitment to the Bulldogs also came with a pretty amazing exclusive video from Bleacher Report.
Beal, who had committed to Notre Dame at the 2015 Under Armour All-American Game before reopening his recruitment in February, has been already announced he will be attending IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida for the final year of his high school career. It looks like going to a premier high school sports school has helped him gain national attention as he has offers from Alabama, Florida State and Texas among many others.
The five-star defensive end talked about his relationship with Smart, which was the difference in him committing to the Bulldogs over the Crimson Tide, who were favored to land his services after he de-committed from Notre Dame earlier this year.
“It’s been great ever since he has been at Georgia,” Beal said. “You know, he has been on me and we talk all the time. It’s not really recruiting we talk about all the time, I just keep him updated on everything with me. He’s different from everybody else because we don’t talk recruiting much.”
Robert Beal joins the Bulldogs’ 2017 recruiting class as their highest-rated recruit. The class also includes top names like Richard LeCounte III, William Poole III and D’Antne Demery.
