Last night, former UFC heavyweight champion and current WWE superstar Brock Lesnar made his return to the Octagon and had a successful and impressive performance against Mark Hunt, winning by unanimous decision. There is no telling what the future holds for Lesnar with the UFC, but he made it very clear he was going to do whatever he pleased.
“Let’s get one thing straight: Brock Lesnar’s gonna do what Brock Lesnar wants to do,” he said in the post-fight press conference.
Currently, Lesnar is still under a contract with the WWE and he will make his next appearance at SummerSlam in what is being called a dream match against Randy Orton.
It is The Beast’s first match since Wrestlemania 32 and likely Orton’s first since having rotator cuff surgery last November.
While he signed a multi-year and lucrative contract with WWE ahead of Wrestlemania 31 last April, there is always a good chance he could make more appearances with UFC. After all, he did claim that he was done with MMA for good when he signed that contract and just over a year later, he was fighting in the co-main event of the company’s biggest event in history.
If WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and UFC President Dana White were both very smart, they would be more than willing to work with each other and keep Lesnar happy. UFC got a superstar, while WWE got free plug for Summerslam and WWE 2K17 during the show and will likely receive a UFC star for their event in August to do an in-ring segment.
It will certainly be interesting to see what Lesnar does for his future, which could include a potential rematch against Cain Velasquez.
