Earlier this month, Alabama Crimson Tide offensive lineman Alphonse Taylor was arrested for driving under the influence and then was subsequently suspended.
However, there is an interesting new development in his case.
According to the Tuscaloosa News, Taylor complied with a breathalyzer test the morning of his arrest and blew a 0.0. Documents show there was no alcohol evident in Taylor’s system during either of the two breathalyzers he performed and no blood test was administered.
Taylor had called police after striking a car in a parking lot.
With the new development, Taylor’s attorney is already looking to get him off.
“Anytime you have a .00 blood-alcohol and there’s not a long time period between the arrest and the time of the test, it raises an eyebrow,” Jason Neff told the Decatur Daily. “What compounds this situation is we have a traffic accident in which (Taylor) hit his head on the steering wheel. …
“As we look forward, it’s going to be difficult for the city to establish that there’s enough evidence here.”
If his attorney is successful, we can expect to see Taylor back on the field soon for the Crimson Tide as they prepare for their national title defense in 2016.
