Chadron State DL Eric Goll, 20, died after Thursday practice

There is some sad news to report in the college football world. Following Thursday’s practice, Chadron State College defensive lineman Eric Goll passed away at age 20. He was transported to the local hospital after practice and died at 12:30 p.m.

The cause of death is not known, but the school is fully cooperating with the police department’s investigation into Goll’s death.

“Eric was one of the happiest people I’ve ever met,” Chadron State coach Jay Long said in a statement, via Yahoo Sports. “Our hearts are broken for Eric’s family. They have our condolences and our prayers.”

Goll was a freshman from Haines City, Florida.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to Goll’s family, teammates, and friends from the entire Chadron State College community,” CSC president Randy Rhine added.

The school has not released any details regarding a memorial service, but that will likely take place in the coming days.
