The Auburn Tigers might have just taken a big hit defensively as cornerback Jamel Dean has been ruled out indefinitely due to a knee injury. 247Sports’ Brandon Marcello reported that Dean did not play in the team’s scrimmage on Saturday.
The bad thing about Dean’s injury, which will keep him out an indefinite amount of time, is that he was declared medically ineligible at Ohio State last June.
Two months later, he transferred to Auburn and sat out the 2015 season, his true freshman year.
Dean was a four-star member of Ohio State’s 2015 recruiting class before transferring to Auburn. He was expected to start in the secondary alongside Carlton Davis.
The Tigers open the season against Clemson on Sept. 3 and they only hope Dean will be on the field for the for the team.
