Wisconsin football preview: 5 things to watch in 2016

The Wisconsin Badgers have not been able to call themselves Big Ten champions since the 2012 season, Bret Bielema’s final in Madison. Now, they are looking to compete for a conference title after going 10-3 under first-year head coach Paul Chryst in 2015.

On the offense, quarterback Bart Houston looks to finally have his chance after Joel Stave graduated earlier this year. They have a talented offensive line with four starters returning, but they must use it to their advantage after nearly finishing outside of the top 100 in rushing offense.

Justin Wilcox takes over the defense after Dave Aranda headed to Baton Rouge to work with the LSU Tigers. He has talented players like Vince Biegel and Derrick Tindal, but they must replace Michael Caputo and Joe Schobert.

Will the Badgers get back to a ten-win season again and be playing in Indianapolis for the conference title for the fifth time in seven years? Here are five things to watch for Wisconsin going into the 2016 college football season.

Caleb is a young veteran of the sports journalism world that has a passion for college football, mostly the SEC, but namely the LSU Tigers. He also has an affinity for the Georgia Southern Eagles, because who doesn't love Erk Russell and national championships, right? He has experience working in print and online media as well as broadcasting, working with his high school alma mater football team and the Savannah Bananas.
