Jalen Hurts impresses in Alabama scrimmage Saturday

The Alabama Crimson Tide certainly have some talented players on their roster this year and everyone seems to be in place, other than at the quarterback position. However, during Saturday’s scrimmage it seems that freshman Jalen Hurts had a terrific performance on the field.

Hurts is competing with Cooper Bateman and Blake Barnett for the starting job this season and it certainly seems like he took big steps forward yesterday. It was reported by Touchdown Alabama that Hurts accounted for three total touchdowns, throwing two and running in another.

Bateman is the only quarterback with real experience for the Crimson Tide as he started the Ole Miss game last season and he opened the scrimmage with a touchdown pass to ArDarius Stewart. Barnett struggled, throwing two pick-sixes and fumbling twice.

Hurts, a four-star freshman from Channelview, Texas, certainly seems like he is in the best position to take the starting job going into the season. The Crimson Tide open the season against USC at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
