During Notre Dame’s season-opening loss to Texas, Fighting Irish wide receiver Torii Hunter Jr. was on the receiving end of a devastating hit from Longhorns defensive back DeShon Elliott.
Hunter was later diagnosed with a concussion and no timetable was given for his return.
There remains no timetable for the senior wide receiver’s return to the field, but head coach Brian Kelly did announce on Friday that Hunter will be forced to miss the team’s Week 2 meeting with Nevada as he continues to recover.

Considering the Fighting Irish have yet to enter the most difficult part of their schedule, holding out Hunter could be the wise move to allow him to fully recover before the team has their biggest games of the year.
Prior to his injury against Texas, Hunter hauled in four catches for 31 yards and a touchdown.
The Fighting Irish return to action at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
