Landon Rice, a former Auburn Tigers tight end, has been accused of raping a 19-year-old female, according to a report from the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer’s Michael Niziolek.
The woman reported the incident, which she says happened in South Donahue Residence Hall, to Auburn Police Department July 27. South Donahue is the dormitory of choice for many of the school’s football players.
The woman received a temporary protective order Sept. 15, requested out of fear of “retaliation from a Title IX investigation.”
Title IX investigations are mandatory and required to be put into motion once any federally-funded school receives report of an act of sexual discrimination, sexual assault and rape included.
In a story from the Auburn Rivals.com site, Jay G. Tate first reported that Landon Rice had left Auburn.
Following the Tigers’ 51-14 demolishing of Arkansas State, Auburn head coach Guz Malzahn said his former tight end had left the program for personal reasons.
Rice was a four-star member of Auburn’s 2016 recruiting class.
