In Saturday’s game against the Georgia State Panthers, Wisconsin quarterback Bart Houston ended up getting pulled in favor of freshman Alex Hornibrook. Despite coach Paul Chryst claiming Houston was their guy going forward, it looks like the youngster will get his first career start this weekend.
Hornibrook came into the game against the Panthers in the second half and ended up leading the Badgers’ game-winning touchdown drive. Because of this,Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal-Sentinel reported that the freshman will be getting the start against the Michigan State Spartans.
The Badgers have not won in East Lansing since 2002 and last won a regular season game against the Spartans in 2009. Hornibrook will also have a tall task as the Spartans are the No. 8 ranked team in the country and have looked electrifying so far this season.
In relief against Georgia State, Hornibrook went 8-12 for 122 yards, a touchdown and one interception. It should be a fun game for the freshman as he looks to lead Wisconsin to an undefeated record.
The Badgers and Spartans meet up at 12 noon EST on Saturday on the Big Ten Network.
