Earlier this year, the city of Dallas was rocked by a tragedy when five police officers were gunned down in a horrific attack. The SMU Mustangs will honor those officers and a fallen campus officer, who was killed in a flash flood in July, this Friday when they face off against TCU.

The team revealed a special helmet decal that is emblazoned with the Dallas skyline on Monday (Pictured above). They will also hold a special ceremony ahead of their nationally-televised game against the Horned Frogs.

Dallas Police Chief David Brown is slated to be in attendance for the game.

“This will be a big game for us as we honor our local police and pay tribute to them,” SMU head coach Chad Morris said during his press conference on Monday, according to the local FOX affiliate. “It’s an opportunity for us and our great City of Dallas to come together and lock arms and pay tribute to the lives that left us way too soon.”

The Mustangs and Horned Frogs take the field on Friday at 7 p.m. EST on ESPN.
