Ken Starr: Art Briles was the real victim in sexual assault case

Earlier this year, a number of administrators and big names at Baylor, including former football coach Art Briles, were let go due to the sexual assault allegations against the football team. Former president Ken Starr was also fired in the scandal, but he had a hot take about Briles being the “real victim” in the case.

Starr had an interview with the Texas Tribune on Saturday and talked about how a “grave injustice” was done to Briles in the whole situation. If you recall, Briles was accused of covering up the multiple sexual assaults during his tenure with the Bears and Starr backed him up during it as well.

A grave injustice was done to Art Briles,” Starr said of the coach’s firing. “Coach Briles has been calumnied … it’s completely unfair.”

Those are some pretty strong words coming from Starr, but surely a number of the females accusing the Bears of assaulting them would disagree. In fact, I would expect them to believe that they were done a “grave injustice” when none of the players missed playing time even after the accusations.

This is certainly some pretty ignorant things for Starr to stay, especially since it is pretty clear that Briles covered the heinous acts of his football players up throughout the course of his career. I wouldn’t expect any school to be waiting on Starr to apply for a job in the near future.
