Georgia football fan starts GoFundMe to pay for scholarship kicker

Georgia football fans want a new kicker.

If that wasn’t already clear, it was confirmed when freshman walk-on Rodrigo Blankenship trotted onto the field against Ole Miss with his nerd glasses on before sailing what should have been an easy field goal wide right.

Blankenship got trolled mercilessly on social media after the miss and now one UGA fan is hoping to help the school out in its search for a new kicker, because the team’s only other kicker, William Ham, is also a walk-on.

Chad Carter from Flowery Branch, Georgia started a GoFundMe campaign in hopes of helping the school fund a scholarship kicker.

From the GoFundMe:

As a UGA fan I have found it very hard to watch the team struggle with special teams this year. With 3 games played we continue to have issues getting it through the uprights. Seems like Kirby doesn’t wanna provide a scholarship for a kicker and would rather use it elsewhere. As painful that it is to watch any contributions would help to find another consistent kicker like we’ve had in the past! Thank you true Georgia fans

Can’t blame Chad for trying.

Unfortunately, the GoFundMe has only $10 at this time, far short of the $25,000 goal, which means the campaign is about as successful as, well, a UGA kicker. *rimshot*
