The Wisconsin Badgers travel to play the Michigan Wolverines in a huge Big Ten game this weekend, but it looks like they will do so without a big piece of their defense. It was reported earlier in the week that linebacker Vince Biegel had suffered a foot injury and those reports were confirmed Thursday night.
ESPN’s Jesse Temple reported that Biegel’s father confirmed to him the foot injury. He said they hope the linebacker will only miss 2-4 weeks, but that seems like an eternity from now with a top ten match-up against Michigan Saturday and another possible top ten meeting against Ohio State next weekend.
The Badgers haven’t had a ton of luck with injuries to the linebacking corps this year. They only recently got 2015 leading tackler T.J. Edwards back from a foot injury over the summer and Chris Orr went down for the season with an injury earlier this year.
Biegel has been a big part of their defense this year has he has recorded nine tackles, two for loss, and a sack so far. In his career, he has played in 46 games and made 32 starts.
Losing him at this key juncture of the season is a huge blow for the Badgers as he is and has been one of the more productive members of a dominant defense.
The Badgers and Wolverines meet up on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EDT with the game airing on ABC.
