UFC fighter Josh Samman in coma

UFC middleweight Josh Samman is fighting for his life, according to a report by the Tallahassee Democrat. Samman was reportedly found unresponsive early Friday morning and is now in critical condition.

Samman, 28, was found unresponsive along with his roommate and friend Troy Kirkingburg.

Kirkingburg, an MMA announcer for Samman’s Florida-based promotion Combat Night, was pronounced dead on the scene. There are very few details at this time.

“I think it has taken a lot of the community and his friends by shock, completely unexpected out of the both of them,” Joe Blackwood told the paper. “Both are great, great people who do a lot for the community and are well-known in the community.

“It has completely blindsided everyone.”

Samman was scheduled to fight Oluwale Bambose on Dec. 9 at UFC Fight Night 102 in Albany, New York. The middleweight announced his signed bout agreement five days ago.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of those who have been impacted by the tragedy and with Samman as he continues to fight for his life.

We will update the story as more information becomes available.
