Report: Jalen Reeves-Maybin career at Tennessee is over

Jalen Reeves-Maybin will have surgery to repair a biceps subluxation on his left shoulder. He will miss the remainder of the season, effectively ending his career at Tennessee, according to Inside Tennessee’s Danny Parker.

Reeves-Maybin left Tennessee’s 38-28 win against Florida early with an apparent shoulder injury. He made the trip with the team in it’s hail mary victory over Georgia but he did not suit up and remained on the sideline.

Volunteers head coach Butch Jones addressed Reeves-Maybin’s status at a press conference on Wednesday.

“Jalen Reeves-Maybin will be out this week (for the Texas A&M game),” Jones said. “We continue to try to gather information for him and further evaluation to see what’s in his best interest short-term, long-term. So, he will be out this week.”

A captain on this Vols team, his absence will be sorely missed. In 41 career games, he has 149 solo tackles, eight sacks and an interception. Cortez McDowell is expected to start in Reeves-Maybins place this week against Texas A&M.

Tennessee will also be without running back Jalen Hurd and middle linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. this week.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
