Colin Kaepernick to start for 49ers vs. Bills

Colin Kaepernick dominated headlines during the NFL preseason after starting a national protest and conversation about the systemic racism and social inequality in the country.

Now, Kaepernick will have the chance to make some noise on the field with the San Francisco 49ers.

On Tuesday, head coach Chip Kelly informed the media that Kaepernick will be starting this weekend’s game against the Buffalo Bills. Blaine Gabbert, who started the 49ers’ previous games, will serve as the primary backup.

San Francisco enters this weekend’s clash with a 1-4 this season.

Fans had been calling for Kaepernick after Gabbert’s early season struggles, but the 49ers would not turn to Kaepernick until they were confident he has 100 percent recovered from offseason surgeries and is ready to run the offense.

Apparently the time is now, and you can guarantee all eyes will be on Kaepernick when he makes his first start of the 2016-17 NFL regular season on Sunday afternoon.
