Another wild weekend of college football is in the books and the latest AP Top 25 poll was released on Sunday afternoon. After a handful of ranked teams suffered surprising defeats over the weekend, everyone was waiting to see how the chaos would impact the polls.
The defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide remained No. 1 in the nation. Ohio State, last week’s No. 2 team, fell to No. 6 in this week’s rankings after a loss to unranked Penn State. For their part in the upset, the Nittany Lions are now ranked No. 24. It’s the first time Penn State has been ranked since Week 14 of 2011.
Michigan, Clemson and Washington round out the top four. Louisville, another one-loss team with College Football Playoff hopes, sit just outside of the postseason picture at No. 5.
