The Stanford Cardinal have made a change under center.
On Tuesday, head coach David Shaw announced senior Ryan Burns will be heading to the bench this weekend and junior Keller Chryst will be the team’s starting quarterback against Arizona.
“We should be able to score points with the personnel we have on the offensive side,” Shaw said, via ESPN.com. “That’s the bottom line here.”

The entire Stanford offense has struggled en route to the team’s disappointing 4-3 start, with their most recent outing being a miserable five-point effort in a loss to Colorado.
Something had to change, and unfortunately Burns was the fall guy.
But while the Cardinal have decided to make a change, Shaw knows that it will take more than just a change under center to spark the offensive turnaround the team is in need of.
“It would be really easy if it was just the quarterback,” Shaw said. “If we were running for 250 yards a game, and the quarterback had all day to throw, and our wide receivers were making phenomenal catches, it would be really easy … That’s why you feel really bad for Ryan. You won’t find a more improved player over the last calendar year.”
Kickoff between Stanford and Arizona is set for 11 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.
