Tom Herman: I’m done addressing ‘bogus’ coaching rumors

Houston Cougars head coach Tom Herman is the hottest name on the coaching market.

There isn’t a job opening out he is not linked to and there have even been reports that Herman to the Texas Longhorns is “all but official.” Well, not so fast, my friends.

Herman spoke to the media on Tuesday and said that he is done addressing the “bogus” rumors.

“I’m done chasing down erroneous reports. I’m done putting out statements to refute bogus information,” Herman said to Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle after practice on Tuesday. “That’s not my job, my job is to concern myself with the players on this team and getting ready for the football game.”

Welp, there is that.

With Houston suffering two losses in its last three games, Herman is likely just trying to keep his team’s focus on the rest of the season. Once 2016 is in the books, however, he may be singing a different tune. Seeing the money on the table will certainly help, too.

So while Herman doesn’t want to address the rumors for the time being, don’t be surprised if he ends up leaving for a Power 5 school at the end of the season.
