Video: Alabama RB’s mom returns from Kuwait for Senior Day surprise

|

While the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide steamrolled rival Auburn in the Iron Bowl on Saturday afternoon, it was a moment before kickoff that really stole the show.

Alabama walk-on running back Lawrence Erekosima was one of many Crimson Tide seniors being honored prior to the game on Senior Day, when here received an incredible surprise that brought the crowd to their feet and put a smile on everyone’s face.

While Erekosima was posing for a photo with his family, the PA announcer introduced a special guest, the running back’s mother, Jacqueline Page, who currently serves in the US Army.

Erekosima’s mother returned home from Kuwait a couple of months early to deliver the surprise of a lifetime.

Who is cutting onions?

“I almost cried,” Erekosima said, according to SEC Country. “I had to hold it in. I dropped one tear like Denzel (Washington).”

After the game, a normally stoic Nick Saban even showed some emotion.

What an awesome moment. We can never see enough of families being reunited.
