UGA football: Nick Chubb, Sony Michel bypassing draft

The UGA football program received some incredible news on Thursday afternoon, with star running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel both announcing they will bypass the NFL Draft to return to the Bulldogs in 2017 for their senior seasons.

The running back duo announced their decisions following Thursday’s practice.

Neither player was expected to be selected within the first three rounds.

With the return of Chubb and Michel, Georgia will once again have a potent rushing attack and two of the ten most productive running backs in program history.

In 2017, Chubb will need just four yards to surpass Todd Gurley for No. 2 on the Bulldogs’ all-time rushing list.

In addition to Chubb and Michel returning to Athens, junior outside linebackers Lorenzo Carter and Davin Bellamy also announced they will be on the field for Georgia next season.

It’s great news after a disappointing first season under head coach Kirby Smart.
