In a lawsuit filed against Baylor University on Friday, a former Baylor student claims to have been raped in 2013.
Her lawsuit indicates 52 rapes by 31 different football players. Known as Elizabeth Doe for anonymity sake, is suing the university for Title IX violations and negligence.
A graduate of the university in 2014, Doe’s lawsuit names two players who have been previously tied to rape allegations.
Tre’Von Armstead and Shamycheal Chatman are accused of having brutally raped Doe at a party on April 18, 2013. Chatman was identified in another lawsuit as well, which the victim claims was covered up by the university.
When that student, an athletic trainer, reported that Chatman raped her at his off-campus apartment the university moved the trainer to a female sports team and agreed to pay for her education in exchange for a non-disclosure agreement.
It appears that the situation at Baylor will continue to get worse before it gets better.
With a number of lawsuits likely still on the way, the final dollar amount that the university will have to pay out is astronomical. That of course pales in comparison to the atrocities committed and swept under the rug.
