On Tuesday, it was announced that Lane Kiffin would be leaving the Alabama Crimson Tide coaching staff in order to accept the same offensive role with the Atlanta Falcons, replacing Super Bowl LI scapegoat Kyle Shanahan.
Immediately after those reports surfaced, rumors began swirling linking former NFL and Oregon head coach Chip Kelly to the Crimson Tide’s offensive coordinator vacancy.
Since Tuscaloosa has become the land of second chances — just ask Steve Sarkisian and Lane Kiffin — the link made sense, but could it actually happen? There are very respectable voices in the college football world who are saying yes.
At the very least, they’re intrigued by the idea.
My guess is Locks. Rumors out there about Chip or Helfrich as well. No idea. https://t.co/hp1U0lVj7u

Chip Kelly to Bama now? He’d get the most from Hurts. It would be interesting

Two names to keep an eye on for the open Alabama OC job: Mike Locksley & Chip Kelly. Kelly visited Nick Saban & Alabama last month.

Alabama football coach Nick Saban and Kelly are reportedly good friends, so get your popcorn ready and wait to see if another former Pac-12 coach makes his way to the Crimson Tide.
