Alabama is going after one of the premier players in the country, no surprise there. Surprise might be the wrong word, maybe drama suits the situation better.
Emory Jones is a talented dual-threat quarterback who is rated at the top of his position and currently committed to Ohio State for the 2018 season. Now that Alabama has thrown its hat into the ring, might a change be on the horizon?
Jones confirmed the offer via his private Twitter page on Monday:
The decision might come down to playing, as both teams have been known in the past to be willing to play young players if they feel they are ready. Last season, Alabama landed the no. 1 dual-threat quarterback in the country Tua Tagovailoa, who Jones would undoubtedly have to compete against. Not to mention the fact that Jalen Hurts will only be entering his Junior season at the end of the 2017 year.
Ohio State might provide a clearer path for Jones and his commitment will likely stick throughout the recruiting process.
You never know, though. Nick Saban didn’t build one of the greatest football dynasty’s by accident.
