John Calipari To Coach USA Basketball U-19 Team

Kentucky bsaketball coach John Calipari has been appointed to coach the U.S. mens under-19 team at the FIBA World Championships in July.
While Calipari is surpassed by few in his accomplishments at the NCAA level, this will be only his second international coaching event. The other came when he coach the Dominican Republic national team in 2011 and 2012.
Calipari will be expected to win the gold medal, anything less will be considered a failure.
The USA will be going for their third straight gold at the event and are considered heavy favorites. The event will be held from July 1 through July 9 in Cairo, Egypt.
This years U-19 team is loaded with young talent, the type of group Calipari has proven capable of coaching at the highest level. He is in his eighth season at Kentucky, where he has made four appearances in the NCAA Tournament Final Four, including the 2012 national championship.
He will be joined by Wake Forest head coach Danny Manning and Colorado coach Tad Boyle who will serve as his assistants through the event.
