Magic Johnson Says He's Ignoring LaVar Ball While Evaluating Lonzo

It is no secret that LaVar Ball is the most outspoken basketball dad we have ever seen. That has led to some thinking it could impact the draft stock of his son, Lonzo Ball, but Magic Johnson doesn’t see that as the case.
The Los Angeles Lakers president was discussing Ball when he said LaVar’s outrageous comments and antics have no impact on the team potentially drafting the former UCLA star.
“No effect at all. I think what you’re drafting is the son and not the father,” Johnson said, via ESPN.com. “I think that you also are gauging and evaluating his son on his ability and what he can do not only on the basketball court but also what he can do for your team. How he can enhance and make your team better.”

“If we’re fortunate to keep our pick, wherever that is, then you take a look at him. Just like any team who would be drafting in the top four or five would take a look at him and the other players who are there.”
Ball has expressed his desire to play for the Lakers before, so it will be interesting to see if he ultimately lands with his dream team.
It certainly looks like the baggage that comes along with his father won’t have an impact on that possibility.
During his lone season at UCLA, the 6-foot-6, 190-pounder averaged 14.6 points, 6 rebounds and 7.6 assists per game.
