If Markelle Fultz becomes the superstar the 76ers expect him to become, he’ll have a heck of a story as to how he was drafted by they selected him. Taken first overall int he 2017 NBA Draft, Fultz adds to a deep pool of young talent not he 76ers roster. It almost never happened.
The pick was originally held by the Brooklyn Nets, who traded the pick to the Boston Celtics. Just a few days ago, the Celtics traded the pick to the 76ers, presumably because they wanted to draft Fultz.
He doesn’t figure to be the primary ball-hander in Philadelphia from day one. However, the upside in his offense is immense. He has the makings of a prolific scorer.
As impressive as his scoring is, his defense will need to improve.
Fultz was a dynamic scorer while playing his college ball at Washington. He joins a growing list of players who only play one stellar season in college basketball before going pro.
